Today was an unmitigated disaster. I essentially drove 200+ miles through a monsoon to eat a $50 lunch. The trip to see my friends included a ferry ride… long story short, I didn’t make it the whole way, grabbed some sushi and a bloody mary at a restaurant after giving up, then returned to the camper, all while a thunderstorm pounded the whole region. The highlight of the drive was passing a semi that was carrying pallets of onions. Purple onions, yellow onions, white onions–thousands of them, stacked 6-7 feet high and shrink-wrapped. I guess I pictured onions maybe being shipped inside a container or something, so I was surprised.

Once back in my camper the noise was relentless on the thin roof, but not enough that I couldn’t fall asleep for a 90 min nap. I’m feeling really down. I’ll be up late tonight.

I saw this colorful little community out my window near Perdido Key, FL.

Hi. I’m Adam Overland, a writer based in Minneapolis. These are the meanderings of my muddled mind. I’ve written humor columns for various print publications, so naturally that’s dead and here I am, waiting for the last gasp.
